Historical Overview

Historical Perspective of Parish Nursing in Canada

Revised January 2022

The concept of parish nursing began in Europe, arriving in the United States in the mid. 1980’s, and spreading to Canada less than a decade later, as early as 1992. Thousands of nurses are currently active in the ministry. As interest in this ministry began to grow across Canada and as parish nursing began to be practiced in various locations, there was a need to bring the people and organizations involved together for the purpose of networking and establishing common purposes and strategies

2022 Conference Planning Committee Report

Virtual Conference and CAPNM AGM, May 5th & 6th, 2022.

Theme:  Healing Our Communities

Host: Saskatchewan PNPPG (Parish Nurse Professional Practice Group)

We, the Saskatchewan Planning Committee are getting very excited to “see” everyone at our upcoming Annual Conference & AGM!  We are on track with our time line and cannot wait to glean all the knowledge and information our Guest Speakers will share with us on our chosen theme.

We have an extensive array of guest speakers, a bonus guest speaker and several devotional & worship moments to help you relax, contemplate, learn from and rejuvenate with, throughout our two day event.

Our theme of Healing our Communities will invite all participants to reflect on a variety of relationships through prayer, the arts and sacred story.  We hope you will enjoy the diversification being offered to you, along with our take home prayer and reflection booklet which you will find in your conference material.

May we all be blessed with God’s reconciling grace which we will carry forth to our families, friends and communities!
